[1] וּפְלִשְׁתִּים לָקְחוּ אֵת אֲרוֹן הָאֱלֹהִים וַיְבִאֻהוּ מֵאֶבֶן הָעֵזֶר אַשְׁדּוֹדָה ׃#
[1] Phi-li-tin lấy hòm của Ðức Chúa Trời, đi từ Ê-bên-Ê-xe tới Ách-đốt.
[1] Now the Philistines had captured the ark of God and brought it from Ebenezer to Ashdod.
[2] וַיִּקְחוּ פְלִשְׁתִּים אֶת־אֲרוֹן הָאֱלֹהִים וַיָּבִיאוּ אֹתוֹ בֵּית דָּגוֹן וַיַּצִּיגוּ אֹתוֹ אֵצֶל דָּגוֹן ׃#
[2] Ðoạn, chúng lấy hòm của Ðức Chúa Trời đi vào đền Ða-gôn, để ở bên Ða-gôn.
[2] The Philistines took the ark of God and brought it into the temple of Dagon, where they positioned it beside Dagon.
[3] וַיַּשְׁכִּמוּ אַשְׁדּוֹדִים מִמָּחֳרָת וְהִנֵּה דָגוֹן נֹפֵל לְפָנָיו אַרְצָה לִפְנֵי אֲרוֹן יְהוָה וַיִּקְחוּ אֶת־דָּגוֹן וַיָּשִׁבוּ אֹתוֹ לִמְקוֹמוֹ ׃#
[3] Sáng ngày sau, dân Ách-đốt dậy sớm, thấy Ða-gôn nằm sải mặt úp xuống đất trước mặt hòm của Ðức Giê-hô-va. Chúng nó bèn đem Ða-gôn đặt lại tại chỗ nó.
[3] When the residents of Ashdod got up early the next day, Dagon was lying on the ground before the ark of the LORD. So they took Dagon and set him back in his place.
[4] וַיַּשְׁכִּמוּ בַבֹּקֶר מִמָּחֳרָת וְהִנֵּה דָגוֹן נֹפֵל לְפָנָיו אַרְצָה לִפְנֵי אֲרוֹן יְהוָה וְרֹאשׁ דָּגוֹן וּשְׁתֵּי כַּפּוֹת יָדָיו כְּרֻתוֹת אֶל־הַמִּפְתָּן רַק דָּגוֹן נִשְׁאַר עָלָיו ׃#
[4] Ngày sau chúng nó trở vào sớm, Ða-gôn lại còn té xuống đất trước hòm của Ðức Giê-hô-va, đầu và hai tay đều rơi ra, nằm trên ngạch cửa, chỉ còn cái mình nó mà thôi.
[4] But when they got up early the following day, Dagon was again lying on the ground before the ark of the LORD. The head of Dagon and his two hands were sheared off and were lying at the threshold. Only Dagon’s body was left intact.
[5] עַל־כֵּן לֹא־יִדְרְכוּ כֹהֲנֵי דָגוֹן וְכָל־הַבָּאִים בֵּית־דָּגוֹן עַל־מִפְתַּן דָּגוֹן בְּאַשְׁדּוֹד עַד הַיּוֹם הַזֶּה ׃ ס#
[5] Bởi cớ ấy, cho đến ngày nay, những thầy cả của Ða-gôn, và phàm người nào vào trong đền nó, đều tránh không đặt chơn trên ngạch cửa.
[5] (For this reason, to this very day, neither Dagon’s priests nor anyone else who enters Dagon’s temple step on Dagon’s threshold in Ashdod.)
[6] וַתִּכְבַּד יַד־יְהוָה אֶל־הָאַשְׁדּוֹדִים וַיְשִׁמֵּם וַיַּךְ אֹתָם בָּעֳפָלִים אֶת־אַשְׁדּוֹד וְאֶת־גְּבוּלֶיהָ ׃#
[6] Nhưng tay Ðức Giê-hô-va giáng họa lớn trên dân sự Ách-đốt, dẫn sự tàn hại đến trong xứ chúng nó, lấy bịnh trĩ lậu hành hại Ách-đốt và địa phận nó.
[6] The LORD attacked the residents of Ashdod severely, bringing devastation on them. He struck the people of both Ashdod and the surrounding area with sores.
[7] וַיִּרְאוּ אַנְשֵׁי־אַשְׁדּוֹד כִּי־כֵן וְאָמְרוּ לֹא־יֵשֵׁב אֲרוֹן אֱלֹהֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל עִמָּנוּ כִּי־קָשְׁתָה יָדוֹ עָלֵינוּ וְעַל דָּגוֹן אֱלֹהֵינוּ ׃#
[7] Dân Ách-đốt thấy mình như vậy, bèn kêu là rằng: Hòm của Ðức Chúa Trời Y-sơ-ra-ên chớ ở nơi chúng ta, vì tay Ngài giáng họa lớn trên chúng ta và trên Ða-gôn, là thần của chúng ta.
[7] When the people of Ashdod saw what was happening, they said, “The ark of the God of Israel should not remain with us, for he has attacked both us and our god Dagon!”
[8] וַיִּשְׁלְחוּ וַיַּאַסְפוּ אֶת־כָּל־סַרְנֵי פְלִשְׁתִּים אֲלֵיהֶם וַיֹּאמְרוּ מַה־נַּעֲשֶׂה לַאֲרוֹן אֱלֹהֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל וַיֹּאמְרוּ גַּת יִסֹּב אֲרוֹן אֱלֹהֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל וַיַּסֵּבּוּ אֶת־אֲרוֹן אֱלֹהֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל ׃ ס#
[8] Chúng sai sứ thỉnh nhóm hết thảy quan trưởng của dân Phi-li-tin, mà hỏi rằng: Chúng ta sẽ làm sao về hòm của Ðức Chúa Trời của dân Y-sơ-ra-ên? Các quan trưởng đáp: Phải đem hòm của Ðức Chúa Trời của Y-sơ-ra-ên đến Gát. Người ta bèn đem hòm của Ðức Chúa Trời của Y-xơ-ra-ên đến đó.
[8] So they assembled all the leaders of the Philistines and asked, “What should we do with the ark of the God of Israel?” They replied, “The ark of the God of Israel should be moved to Gath.” So they moved the ark of the God of Israel.
[9] וַיְהִי אַחֲרֵי הֵסַבּוּ אֹתוֹ וַתְּהִי יַד־יְהוָה בָּעִיר מְהוּמָה גְּדוֹלָה מְאֹד וַיַּךְ אֶת־אַנְשֵׁי הָעִיר מִקָּטֹן וְעַד־גָּדוֹל וַיִּשָּׂתְרוּ לָהֶם עֳפָלִים ׃#
[9] Người ta vừa đem hòm đi, thì tay Ðức Giê-hô-va bèn phạt thành ấy, khiến cho nó bị sự kinh khiếp rất lớn. Ngài hành hại dân thành đó, từ đứa nhỏ cho đến người lớn; chúng đều bị bịnh trĩ lậu phát ra.
[9] But after it had been moved the LORD attacked that city as well, causing a great deal of panic. He struck all the people of that city with sores.
[10] וַיְשַׁלְּחוּ אֶת־אֲרוֹן הָאֱלֹהִים עֶקְרוֹן וַיְהִי כְּבוֹא אֲרוֹן הָאֱלֹהִים עֶקְרוֹן וַיִּזְעֲקוּ הָעֶקְרֹנִים לֵאמֹר הֵסַבּוּ אֵלַי אֶת־אֲרוֹן אֱלֹהֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל לַהֲמִיתֵנִי וְאֶת־עַמִּי ׃#
[10] Bấy giờ, chúng nó sai gởi hòm của Ðức Chúa Trời đến Éc-rôn. Khi hòm đến, dân Éc-rôn kêu la rằng: Người ta khiêng hòm của Ðức Chúa Trời của Y-sơ-ra-ên đến cùng ta đặng giết chúng ta và dân sự chúng ta!
[10] So they sent the ark of God to Ekron. But when the ark of God arrived at Ekron, the residents of Ekron cried out saying, “They have brought the ark of the God of Israel here to kill our people!”
[11] וַיִּשְׁלְחוּ וַיַּאַסְפוּ אֶת־כָּל־סַרְנֵי פְלִשְׁתִּים וַיֹּאמְרוּ שַׁלְּחוּ אֶת־אֲרוֹן אֱלֹהֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל וְיָשֹׁב לִמְקֹמוֹ וְלֹא־יָמִית אֹתִי וְאֶת־עַמִּי כִּי־הָיְתָה מְהוּמַת־מָוֶת בְּכָל־הָעִיר כָּבְדָה מְאֹד יַד הָאֱלֹהִים שָׁם ׃#
[11] Chúng nó sai thỉnh nhóm hết thảy quan trưởng của dân Phi-li-tin, mà nói rằng: Hãy khiêng hòm của Ðức Chúa Trời của Y-sơ-ra-ên đi, để nó trở về nơi cũ, và chớ làm cho chúng ta và dân sự chúng ta phải chết. Vì trong mọi thành đều có sự kinh khiếp hầu chết; tay Ðức Giê-hô-va giáng họa tại đó cách dữ tợn.
[11] So they assembled all the leaders of the Philistines and said, “Get the ark of the God of Israel out of here! Let it go back to its own place so that it won’t kill us and our people!” The terror of death was throughout the entire city; God was attacking them very severely there.
[12] וְהָאֲנָשִׁים אֲשֶׁר לֹא־מֵתוּ הֻכּוּ בָּעֳפָלִים וַתַּעַל שַׁוְעַת הָעִיר הַשָּׁמָיִם ׃#
[12] Những kẻ nào không chết thì bị bịnh trĩ lậu; và tiếng kêu la của thành lên đến tận trời.
[12] The people who did not die were struck with sores; the city’s cry for help went all the way up to heaven.
