[1] וַיְהִי בִּימֵי אַמְרָפֶל מֶלֶךְ־שִׁנְעָר אַרְיוֹךְ מֶלֶךְ אֶלָּסָר כְּדָרְלָעֹמֶר מֶלֶךְ עֵילָם וְתִדְעָל מֶלֶךְ גּוֹיִם ׃

[1] Trong đời Am-ra-phên, vua Si-nê-a; A-ri-óc, vua Ê-la-sa; Kết-rô-Lao me, vua Ê-lam, và Ti-đanh, vua Gô-im,
[1] At that time Amraphel king of Shinar, Arioch king of Ellasar, Kedorlaomer king of Elam, and Tidal king of nations

[2] עָשׂוּ מִלְחָמָה אֶת־בֶּרַע מֶלֶךְ סְדֹם וְאֶת־בִּרְשַׁע מֶלֶךְ עֲמֹרָה שִׁנְאָב מֶלֶךְ אַדְמָה וְשֶׁמְאֵבֶר מֶלֶךְ צְבֹיִים וּמֶלֶךְ בֶּלַע הִיא־צֹעַר ׃

[2] bốn vua hiệp lại tranh chiến cùng Bê-ra, vua Sô-đôm; Bi-rê-sa, vua Gô-mô-rơ; Si-nê-áp, vua Át-ma; Sê-mê-bê, vua Xê-bô-im, và vua Bê-la, tức là Xoa.
[2] went to war against Bera king of Sodom, Birsha king of Gomorrah, Shinab king of Admah, Shemeber king of Zeboiim, and the king of Bela (that is, Zoar).

[3] כָּל־אֵלֶּה חָבְרוּ אֶל־עֵמֶק הַשִּׂדִּים הוּא יָם הַמֶּלַח ׃

[3] Các vua nầy hiệp lại tại trũng Si-điêm, bây giờ là biển muối.
[3] These last five kings joined forces in the Valley of Siddim (that is, the Salt Sea).

[4] שְׁתֵּים עֶשְׂרֵה שָׁנָה עָבְדוּ אֶת־כְּדָרְלָעֹמֶר וּשְׁלֹשׁ־עֶשְׂרֵה שָׁנָה מָרָדוּ ׃

[4] Trong mười hai năm các vua nầy đều là chư-hầu của vua Kết-rô-Lao me; nhưng qua năm thứ mười ba, thì họ dấy loạn.
[4] For twelve years they had served Kedorlaomer, but in the thirteenth year they rebelled.

[5] וּבְאַרְבַּע עֶשְׂרֵה שָׁנָה בָּא כְדָרְלָעֹמֶר וְהַמְּלָכִים אֲשֶׁר אִתּוֹ וַיַּכּוּ אֶת־רְפָאִים בְּעַשְׁתְּרֹת קַרְנַיִם וְאֶת־הַזּוּזִים בְּהָם וְאֵת הָאֵימִים בְּשָׁוֵה קִרְיָתָיִם ׃

[5] Nhằm năm thứ mười bốn, Kết-rô-Lao-me cùng các vua đồng minh kéo quân đến dẹp dân Rê-pha-im ở đất Ách-tê-rót-Ca-na-im, dân Xu-xin tại đất Ham, dân Ê-mim ở trong đồng bằng Ki-ri-a-ta-im,
[5] In the fourteenth year, Kedorlaomer and the kings who were his allies came and defeated the Rephaites in Ashteroth Karnaim, the Zuzites in Ham, the Emites in Shaveh Kiriathaim,

[6] וְאֶת־הַחֹרִי בְּהַרְרָם שֵׂעִיר עַד אֵיל פָּארָן אֲשֶׁר עַל־הַמִּדְבָּר ׃

[6] và dân Hô-rít tại núi Sê-i-rơ, cho đến nơi Ên-Ba-ran, ở gần đồng vắng.
[6] and the Horites in their hill country of Seir, as far as El Paran, which is near the desert.

[7] וַיָּשֻׁבוּ וַיָּבֹאוּ אֶל־עֵין מִשְׁפָּט הִוא קָדֵשׁ וַיַּכּוּ אֶת־כָּל־שְׂדֵה הָעֲמָלֵקִי וְגַם אֶת־הָאֱמֹרִי הַיֹּשֵׁב בְּחַצְצֹן תָּמָר ׃

[7] Ðoạn, các vua thâu binh trở về, đến Suối Xử đoán, tức Ca-đe, hãm đánh khắp miền dân A-ma-léc, và dân A-mô-rít ở tại Hát-sát sôn-Tha-ma.
[7] Then they attacked En Mishpat (that is, Kadesh) again, and they conquered all the territory of the Amalekites, as well as the Amorites who were living in Hazazon Tamar.

[8] וַיֵּצֵא מֶלֶךְ־סְדֹם וּמֶלֶךְ עֲמֹרָה וּמֶלֶךְ אַדְמָה וּמֶלֶךְ צְבֹיִים וּמֶלֶךְ בֶּלַע הִוא־צֹעַר וַיַּעַרְכוּ אִתָּם מִלְחָמָה בְּעֵמֶק הַשִּׂדִּים ׃

[8] Các vua của Sô-đôm, Gô-mô-rơ, Át-ma, Xê-bô-im và vua Bê-la, tức là Xoa, bèn xuất trận và dàn binh đóng tại trũng Si-điêm,
[8] Then the king of Sodom, the king of Gomorrah, the king of Admah, the king of Zeboiim, and the king of Bela (that is, Zoar) went out and prepared for battle. In the Valley of Siddim they met

[9] אֵת כְּדָרְלָעֹמֶר מֶלֶךְ עֵילָם וְתִדְעָל מֶלֶךְ גּוֹיִם וְאַמְרָפֶל מֶלֶךְ שִׁנְעָר וְאַרְיוֹךְ מֶלֶךְ אֶלָּסָר אַרְבָּעָה מְלָכִים אֶת־הַחֲמִשָּׁה ׃

[9] đặng chống cự cùng Kết-rô-Lao-me, vua Ê-lam; Ti-đanh, vua Gô-im; Am-ra-phên, vua Si-nê-a, và A-ri-óc, vua Ê-la-sa; bốn vị đương địch cùng năm.
[9] Kedorlaomer king of Elam, Tidal king of nations, Amraphel king of Shinar, and Arioch king of Ellasar. Four kings fought against five.

[10] וְעֵמֶק הַשִׂדִּים בֶּאֱרֹת בֶּאֱרֹת חֵמָר וַיָּנֻסוּ מֶלֶךְ־סְדֹם וַעֲמֹרָה וַיִּפְּלוּ־שָׁמָּה וְהַנִּשְׁאָרִים הֶרָה נָּסוּ ׃

[10] Vả, trong trũng Si-điêm có nhiều hố nhựa chai; vua Sô-đôm và vua Gô-mô-rơ thua chạy, sa xuống hố, còn kẻ nào thoát được chạy trốn trên núi.
[10] Now the Valley of Siddim was full of tar pits. When the kings of Sodom and Gomorrah fled, they fell into them, but some survivors fled to the hills.

[11] וַיִּקְחוּ אֶת־כָּל־רְכֻשׁ סְדֹם וַעֲמֹרָה וְאֶת־כָּל־אָכְלָם וַיֵּלֵכוּ ׃

#

[11] Bên thắng trận bèn cướp lấy hết của cải và lương thực của Sô-đôm và Gô-mô-rơ, rồi đi.
[11] The four victorious kings took all the possessions and food of Sodom and Gomorrah and left.

[12] וַיִּקְחוּ אֶת־לוֹט וְאֶת־רְכֻשׁוֹ בֶּן־אֲחִי אַבְרָם וַיֵּלֵכוּ וְהוּא יֹשֵׁב בִּסְדֹם ׃

[12] Giặc cũng bắt Lót, là cháu của Áp-ram, ở tại Sô-đôm, và hết thảy gia tài người, rồi đem đi.
[12] They also took Abram’s nephew Lot and his possessions when they left, for Lot was living in Sodom.

[13] וַיָּבֹא הַפָּלִיט וַיַּגֵּד לְאַבְרָם הָעִבְרִי וְהוּא שֹׁכֵן בְּאֵלֹנֵי מַמְרֵא הָאֱמֹרִי אֲחִי אֶשְׁכֹּל וַאֲחִי עָנֵר וְהֵם בַּעֲלֵי בְרִית־אַבְרָם ׃

[13] Có một người thoát được chạy đến báo điều đó cùng Áp-ram, là người Hê-bơ-rơ. Áp-ram ở tại lùm cây dẻ bộp của Mam-rê, là người A-mô-rít, anh của Ếch-côn và A-ne; ba người nầy đã có kết-ước cùng Áp-ram.
[13] A fugitive came and told Abram the Hebrew. Now Abram was living by the oaks of Mamre the Amorite, the brother of Eshcol and Aner. (All these were allied by treaty with Abram.)

[14] וַיִּשְׁמַע אַבְרָם כִּי נִשְׁבָּה אָחִיו וַיָּרֶק אֶת־חֲנִיכָיו יְלִידֵי בֵיתוֹ שְׁמֹנָה עָשָׂר וּשְׁלֹשׁ מֵאוֹת וַיִּרְדֹּף עַד־דָּן ׃

[14] Khi Áp-ram hay được cháu mình bị quân giặc bắt, bèn chiêu tập ba trăm mười tám gia nhân đã tập luyện, sanh đẻ nơi nhà mình, mà đuổi theo các vua đó đến đất Ðan.
[14] When Abram heard that his nephew had been taken captive, he mobilized his 318 trained men who had been born in his household, and he pursued the invaders as far as Dan.

[15] וַיֵּחָלֵק עֲלֵיהֶם לַיְלָה הוּא וַעֲבָדָיו וַיַּכֵּם וַיִּרְדְּפֵם עַד־חוֹבָה אֲשֶׁר מִשְּׂמֹאל לְדַמָּשֶׂק ׃

#

[15] Ðoạn Áp-ram chia bọn đầy tớ mình ra, thừa ban đêm xông hãm quân nghịch, đánh đuổi theo đến đất Hô-ba ở về phía tả Ða-mách.
[15] Then, during the night, Abram divided his forces against them and defeated them. He chased them as far as Hobah, which is north of Damascus.

[16] וַיָּשֶׁב אֵת כָּל־הָרְכֻשׁ וְגַם אֶת־לוֹט אָחִיו וּרְכֻשׁוֹ הֵשִׁיב וְגַם אֶת־הַנָּשִׁים וְאֶת־הָעָם ׃

#

[16] Người thâu về đủ hết các tài vật mà quân giặc đã cướp lấy; lại cũng dẫn cháu mình, là Lót cùng gia tài người, đờn bà và dân chúng trở về.
[16] He retrieved all the stolen property. He also brought back his nephew Lot and his possessions, as well as the women and the rest of the people.

[17] וַיֵּצֵא מֶלֶךְ־סְדֹם לִקְרָאתוֹ אַחַרֵי שׁוּבוֹ מֵהַכּוֹת אֶת כְּדָרלָעֹמֶר וְאֶת־הַמְּלָכִים אֲשֶׁר אִתּוֹ אֶל־עֵמֶק שָׁוֵה הוּא עֵמֶק הַמֶּלֶךְ ׃

#

[17] Sau khi Áp-ram đánh bại Kết-rô-Lao-me và các vua đồng minh, thắng trận trở về, thì vua Sô-đôm ra đón rước người tại trũng Sa-ve, tức là trũng Vua.
[17] After Abram returned from defeating Kedorlaomer and the kings who were with him, the king of Sodom went out to meet Abram in the Valley of Shaveh (known as the King’s Valley).

[18] וּמַלְכִּי־צֶדֶק מֶלֶךְ שָׁלֵם הוֹצִיא לֶחֶם וָיָיִן וְהוּא כֹהֵן לְאֵל עֶלְיוֹן ׃

[18] Mên-chi-xê-đéc, vua Sa-lem, sai đem bánh và rượu ra. Vả, vua nầy là thầy tế lễ của Ðức Chúa Trời Chí cao,
[18] Melchizedek king of Salem brought out bread and wine. (Now he was the priest of the Most High God.)

[19] וַיְבָרְכֵהוּ וַיֹּאמַר בָּרוּךְ אַבְרָם לְאֵל עֶלְיוֹן קֹנֵה שָׁמַיִם וָאָרֶץ ׃

#

[19] chúc phước cho Áp-ram và nói rằng: Nguyện Ðức Chúa Trời Chí cao, là Ðấng dựng nên trời và đất, ban phước cho Áp-ram!
[19] He blessed Abram, saying, “Blessed be Abram by the Most High God, Creator of heaven and earth.

[20] וּבָרוּךְ אֵל עֶלְיוֹן אֲשֶׁר־מִגֵּן צָרֶיךָ בְּיָדֶךָ וַיִּתֶּן־לוֹ מַעֲשֵׂר מִכֹּל ׃

#

[20] Ðáng ngợi khen thay Ðức Chúa Trời Chí cao đã phó kẻ thù nghịch vào tay ngươi! Ðoạn, Áp-ram lấy một phần mười về cả của giặc mà dâng cho vua đó.
[20] Worthy of praise is the Most High God, who delivered your enemies into your hand.” Abram gave Melchizedek a tenth of everything.

[21] וַיֹּאמֶר מֶלֶךְ־סְדֹם אֶל־אַבְרָם תֶּן־לִי הַנֶּפֶשׁ וְהָרְכֻשׁ קַח־לָךְ ׃

#

[21] Vua Sô-đôm bèn nói cùng Áp-ram rằng: Hãy giao người cho ta, còn của cải, thì ngươi thâu lấy.
[21] Then the king of Sodom said to Abram, “Give me the people and take the possessions for yourself.”

[22] וַיֹּאמֶר אַבְרָם אֶל־מֶלֶךְ סְדֹם הֲרִימֹתִי יָדִי אֶל־יְהוָה אֵל עֶלְיוֹן קֹנֵה שָׁמַיִם וָאָרֶץ ׃

#

[22] Áp-ram đáp lại rằng: Tôi giơ tay lên trước mặt Giê-hô-va Ðức Chúa Trời Chí cao, Chúa Tể của trời và đất, mà thề rằng:
[22] But Abram replied to the king of Sodom, “I raise my hand to the LORD, the Most High God, Creator of heaven and earth, and vow

[23] אִם־מִחוּט וְעַד שְׂרוֹךְ־נַעַל וְאִם־אֶקַּח מִכָּל־אֲשֶׁר־לָךְ וְלֹא תֹאמַר אֲנִי הֶעֱשַׁרְתִּי אֶת־אַבְרָם ׃

#

[23] Hễ của chi thuộc về vua, dầu đến một sợi chỉ, hay là một sợi dây giày đi nữa, tôi cũng chẳng hề lấy; e vua nói được rằng: Nhờ ta làm cho Áp-ram giàu có,
[23] that I will take nothing belonging to you, not even a thread or the strap of a sandal. That way you can never say, ‘It is I who made Abram rich.’

[24] בִּלְעָדַי רַק אֲשֶׁר אָכְלוּ הַנְּעָרִים וְחֵלֶק הָאֲנָשִׁים אֲשֶׁר הָלְכוּ אִתִּי עָנֵר אֶשְׁכֹּל וּמַמְרֵא הֵם יִקְחוּ חֶלְקָם ׃ ס

#

[24] chỉ món chi của những người trẻ đã ăn, và phần của các người cùng đi với tôi, là A-ne, Ếch-côn và Mam-rê; về phần họ, họ hãy lấy phần của họ đi.
[24] I will take nothing except compensation for what the young men have eaten. As for the share of the men who went with me — Aner, Eshcol, and Mamre — let them take their share.”
