[1] וַיֵּאָסְפוּ כָל־הָעָם כְּאִישׁ אֶחָד אֶל־הָרְחוֹב אֲשֶׁר לִפְנֵי שַׁעַר־הַמָּיִם וַיֹּאמְרוּ לְעֶזְרָא הַסֹּפֵר לְהָבִיא אֶת־סֵפֶר תּוֹרַת מֹשֶׁה אֲשֶׁר־צִוָּה יְהוָה אֶת־יִשְׂרָאֵל ׃#
[1] Bấy giờ, dân sự đều nhóm hiệp như thể một người, tại phố ở trước cửa Nước. Chúng nói với E-xơ-ra là thầy thông giáo, xin người đem quyển sách luật pháp của Môi-se mà Ðức Giê-hô-va đã truyền dạy cho Y-sơ-ra-ên.
[1] When the seventh month arrived and the Israelites were settled in their cities, [1] all the people gathered together in the plaza which was in front of the Water Gate. They asked Ezra the scribe to bring the book of the law of Moses which the LORD had commanded Israel.
[2] וַיָּבִיא עֶזְרָא הַכֹּהֵן אֶת־הַתּוֹרָה לִפְנֵי הַקָּהָל מֵאִישׁ וְעַד־אִשָּׁה וְכֹל מֵבִין לִשְׁמֹעַ בְּיוֹם אֶחָד לַחֹדֶשׁ הַשְּׁבִיעִי ׃#
[2] Ngày mồng một tháng bảy, thầy tế lễ E-xơ-ra đem luật pháp đến trước mặt hội chúng, người nam và nữ, cùng những người có thông sáng nghe hiểu được.
[2] So Ezra the priest brought the law before the assembly which included men and women and all those able to understand what they heard. (This happened on the first day of the seventh month.)
[3] וַיִּקְרָא־בוֹ לִפְנֵי הָרְחוֹב אֲשֶׁר לִפְנֵי שַׁעַר־הַמַּיִם מִן־הָאוֹר עַד־מַחֲצִית הַיּוֹם נֶגֶד הָאֲנָשִׁים וְהַנָּשִׁים וְהַמְּבִינִים וְאָזְנֵי כָל־הָעָם אֶל־סֵפֶר הַתּוֹרָה ׃#
[3] Người đứng tại phố ở trước cửa Nước, đọc trong quyển ấy từ rạng đông cho đến trưa, có mặt các người nam và nữ, cùng những kẻ có thể hiểu được. Cả dân sự lắng tai nghe đọc sách luật pháp.
[3] So he read it before the plaza in front of the Water Gate from dawn till noon before the men and women and those children who could understand. All the people were eager to hear the book of the law.
[4] וַיַּעֲמֹד עֶזְרָא הַסֹּפֵר עַל־מִגְדַּל־עֵץ אֲשֶׁר עָשׂוּ לַדָּבָר וַיַּעֲמֹד אֶצְלוֹ מַתִּתְיָה וְשֶׁמַע וַעֲנָיָה וְאוּרִיָּה וְחִלְקִיָּה וּמַעֲשֵׂיָה עַל־יְמִינוֹ וּמִשְּׂמֹאלוֹ פְּדָיָה וּמִישָׁאֵל וּמַלְכִּיָּה וְחָשֻׁם וְחַשְׁבַּדָּנָה זְכַרְיָה מְשֻׁלָּם ׃ פ#
[4] Thầy thông giáo E-xơ-ra đứng trên một cái sạp bằng gỗ mà người ta làm nhơn dịp ấy; Ma-ti-thia, Sê-ma, A-na-gia, U-ri, Hinh-kia, và Ma-a-xê-gia, đứng gần người ở bên hữu; còn bên tả người thì có Phê-đa-gia, Mi-sa-ên, Manh-ki-gia, Ha-sum, Hách-ba-đa-na, Xa-cha-ri, và Mê-su-lam.
[4] Ezra the scribe stood on a towering wooden platform constructed for this purpose. Standing near him on his right were Mattithiah, Shema, Anaiah, Uriah, Hilkiah, and Masseiah. On his left were Pedaiah, Mishael, Malkijah, Hashum, Hashbaddanah, Zechariah, and Meshullam.
[5] וַיִּפְתַּח עֶזְרָא הַסֵּפֶר לְעֵינֵי כָל־הָעָם כִּי־מֵעַל כָּל־הָעָם הָיָה וּכְפִתְחוֹ עָמְדוּ כָל־הָעָם ׃#
[5] E-xơ-ra dở sách ra trước mặt cả dân sự, vì người đứng cao hơn chúng; khi người dở sách ra, thì dân sự đều đứng dậy.
[5] Ezra opened the book in plain view of all the people, for he was elevated above all the people. When he opened the book, all the people stood up.
[6] וַיְבָרֶךְ עֶזְרָא אֶת־יְהוָה הָאֱלֹהִים הַגָּדוֹל וַיַּעֲנוּ כָל־הָעָם אָמֵן אָמֵן בְּמֹעַל יְדֵיהֶם וַיִּקְּדוּ וַיִּשְׁתַּחֲוֻּ לַיהוָה אַפַּיִם אָרְצָה ׃#
[6] E-xơ-ra ngợi khen Giê-hô-va Ðức Chúa Trời cao cả; cả dân sự bèn giơ tay lên, mà đáp lại rằng: A-men, A-men! rồi chúng cúi đầu, sấp mặt xuống đất mà thờ lạy Ðức Giê-hô-va.
[6] Ezra blessed the LORD, the great God, and all the people replied “Amen! Amen!” as they lifted their hands. Then they bowed down and worshiped the LORD with their faces to the ground.
[7] וְיֵשׁוּעַ וּבָנִי וְשֵׁרֵבְיָה יָמִין עַקּוּב שַׁבְּתַי הוֹדִיָּה מַעֲשֵׂיָה קְלִיטָא עֲזַרְיָה יוֹזָבָד חָנָן פְּלָאיָה וְהַלְוִיִּם מְבִינִים אֶת־הָעָם לַתּוֹרָה וְהָעָם עַל־עָמְדָם ׃#
[7] Giê-sua, Ba-ni, Sê-rê-bia, Giô-xa-bát, Ha-nan, Bê-la-gia, và người Lê-vi, đều giải cho dân sự hiểu luật pháp; và dân sự đứng tại chỗ mình.
[7] Jeshua, Bani, Sherebiah, Jamin, Akkub, Shabbethai, Hodiah, Maaseiah, Kelita, Azariah, Jozabad, Hanan, and Pelaiah — all of whom were Levites — were teaching the people the law, as the people remained standing.
[8] וַיִּקְרְאוּ בַסֵּפֶר בְּתוֹרַת הָאֱלֹהִים מְפֹרָשׁ וְשׂוֹם שֶׂכֶל וַיָּבִינוּ בַּמִּקְרָא ׃#
[8] Họ đọc rõ ràng trong sách luật pháp của Ðức Chúa Trời, rồi giải nghĩa nó ra, làm cho người ta hiểu lời họ đọc.
[8] They read from the book of God’s law, explaining it and imparting insight. Thus the people gained understanding from what was read.
[9] ס וַיֹּאמֶר נְחֶמְיָה הוּא הַתִּרְשָׁתָא וְעֶזְרָא הַכֹּהֵן הַסֹּפֵר וְהַלְוִיִּם הַמְּבִינִים אֶת־הָעָם לְכָל־הָעָם הַיּוֹם קָדֹשׁ־הוּא לַיהוָה אֱלֹהֵיכֶם אַל־תִּתְאַבְּלוּ וְאַל־תִּבְכּוּ כִּי בוֹכִים כָּל־הָעָם כְּשָׁמְעָם אֶת־דִּבְרֵי הַתּוֹרָה ׃#
[9] Nê-hê-mi, quan tổng trấn, E-xơ-ra, thầy tế lễ và thầy thông giáo, cùng người Lê-vi mà dạy dỗ dân sự, bèn nói với cả Y-sơ-ra-ên rằng: Ngày nay là thánh cho Giê-hô-va Ðức Chúa Trời của các ngươi; chớ để tang, cũng đừng khóc lóc. Vì cả dân sự đều khóc khi nghe đọc các luật pháp.
[9] Then Nehemiah the governor, Ezra the priestly scribe, and the Levites who were imparting understanding to the people said to all of them, “This day is holy to the LORD your God. Do not mourn or weep.” For all the people had been weeping when they heard the words of the law.
[10] וַיֹּאמֶר לָהֶם לְכוּ אִכְלוּ מַשְׁמַנִּים וּשְׁתוּ מַמְתַקִּים וְשִׁלְחוּ מָנוֹת לְאֵין נָכוֹן לוֹ כִּי־קָדוֹשׁ הַיּוֹם לַאֲדֹנֵינוּ וְאַל־תֵּעָצֵבוּ כִּי־חֶדְוַת יְהוָה הִיא מָעֻזְּכֶם ׃#
[10] Chúa cũng giáng lâm tại trên núi Si-nai, phán với chúng từ trên trời, ban cho chúng những luật lệ ngay thẳng, pháp độ chơn thật, và những qui tắc cùng điều răn tốt lành.
[10] He said to them, “Go and eat delicacies and drink sweet drinks and send portions to those for whom nothing is prepared. For this day is holy to our Lord. Do not grieve, for the joy of the LORD is your strength.”
[11] וְהַלְוִיִּם מַחְשִׁים לְכָל־הָעָם לֵאמֹר הַסּוּ כִּי הַיּוֹם קָדֹשׁ וְאַל־תֵּעָצֵבוּ ׃#
[11] Nê-hê-mi nói với chúng rằng: Hãy đi ăn vật gì béo, uống đồ gì ngọt, và hãy gởi phần cho những người không có sắm sửa gì hết; vì ngày nay là thánh, biệt riêng ra cho Chúa của chúng ta. Chớ buồn thảm, vì sự vui vẻ của Ðức Giê-hô-va là sức lực của các ngươi.
[11] Then the Levites quieted all the people saying, “Be quiet, for this day is holy. Do not grieve.”
[12] וַיֵּלְכוּ כָל־הָעָם לֶאֱכֹל וְלִשְׁתּוֹת וּלְשַׁלַּח מָנוֹת וְלַעֲשׂוֹת שִׂמְחָה גְדוֹלָה כִּי הֵבִינוּ בַּדְּבָרִים אֲשֶׁר הוֹדִיעוּ לָהֶם ׃ ס#
[12] Vậy, người Lê-vi làm cho cả dân sự đều được yên ổn, mà rằng: Khá nín đi, vì ngày nay là thánh, đừng sầu thảm chi.
[12] So all the people departed to eat and drink and to share their food with others and to enjoy tremendous joy, for they had gained insight in the matters that had been made known to them.
[13] וּבַיּוֹם הַשֵּׁנִי נֶאֶסְפוּ רָאשֵׁי הָאָבוֹת לְכָל־הָעָם הַכֹּהֲנִים וְהַלְוִיִּם אֶל־עֶזְרָא הַסֹּפֵר וּלְהַשְׂכִּיל אֶל־דִּבְרֵי הַתּוֹרָה ׃#
[13] Cả dân sự bèn đi đặng ăn và uống, gởi cho những phần, cùng vui vẻ lắm; vì chúng có hiểu các lời người ta đã truyền dạy cho mình.
[13] On the second day of the month the family leaders met with Ezra the scribe, together with all the people, the priests, and the Levites, to consider the words of the law.
[14] וַיִּמְצְאוּ כָּתוּב בַּתּוֹרָה אֲשֶׁר צִוָּה יְהוָה בְּיַד־מֹשֶׁה אֲשֶׁר יֵשְׁבוּ בְנֵי־יִשְׂרָאֵל בַּסֻּכּוֹת בֶּחָג בַּחֹדֶשׁ הַשְּׁבִיעִי ׃#
[14] Qua ngày thứ hai, các trưởng tộc của cả dân sự, những thầy tế lễ, và người Lê-vi, đều nhóm lại bên E-xơ-ra, là người thông giáo, đặng chú ý nghe các lời của luật pháp.
[14] They discovered written in the law that the LORD had commanded through Moses that the Israelites should live in temporary shelters during the festival of the seventh month,
[15] וַאֲשֶׁר יַשְׁמִיעוּ וְיַעֲבִירוּ קוֹל בְּכָל־עָרֵיהֶם וּבִירוּשָׁלִַם לֵאמֹר צְאוּ הָהָר וְהָבִיאוּ עֲלֵי־זַיִת וַעֲלֵי־עֵץ שֶׁמֶן וַעֲלֵי הֲדַס וַעֲלֵי תְמָרִים וַעֲלֵי עֵץ עָבֹת לַעֲשֹׂת סֻכֹּת כַּכָּתוּב ׃ פ#
[15] Chúng thấy có chép trong luật pháp rằng Ðức Giê-hô-va cậy Môi-se phán rằng dân Y-sơ-ra-ên phải ở trong nhà lều đương lúc lễ tháng bảy;
[15] and that they should make a proclamation and disseminate this message in all their cities and in Jerusalem: “Go to the hill country and bring back olive branches and branches of wild olive trees, myrtle trees, date palms, and other leafy trees to construct temporary shelters, as it is written.”
[16] וַיֵּצְאוּ הָעָם וַיָּבִיאוּ וַיַּעֲשׂוּ לָהֶם סֻכּוֹת אִישׁ עַל־גַּגּוֹ וּבְחַצְרֹתֵיהֶם וּבְחַצְרוֹת בֵּית הָאֱלֹהִים וּבִרְחוֹב שַׁעַר הַמַּיִם וּבִרְחוֹב שַׁעַר אֶפְרָיִם ׃#
[16] và chúng phải hô truyền trong các thành và tại Giê-ru-sa-lem nghe, rằng: Hãy đi kiếm trong núi những nhánh ô-li-ve và ô-li-ve rừng, những nhánh cây sim, những tầu lá kè, và những nhánh cây rậm, đặng làm những nhà lều, y như đã chép.
[16] So the people went out and brought these things back and constructed temporary shelters for themselves, each on his roof and in his courtyard and in the courtyards of the temple of God and in the plaza of the Water Gate and the plaza of the Ephraim Gate.
[17] וַיַּעֲשׂוּ כָל־הַקָּהָל הַשָּׁבִים מִן־הַשְּׁבִי סֻכּוֹת וַיֵּשְׁבוּ בַסֻּכּוֹת כִּי לֹא־עָשׂוּ מִימֵי יֵשׁוּעַ בִּן־נוּן כֵּן בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל עַד הַיּוֹם הַהוּא וַתְּהִי שִׂמְחָה גְּדוֹלָה מְאֹד ׃#
[17] Dân sự bèn đi ra đem các lá ấy về, mỗi người đều làm nhà lều trên nóc nhà mình, ngoài sân mình, trong hành lang của đền Ðức Chúa Trời, nơi phố của cửa Nước, và nơi phố của cửa Ép-ra-im.
[17] So all the assembly which had returned from the exile constructed temporary shelters and lived in them. The Israelites had not done so from the days of Joshua son of Nun until that day. Everyone experienced very great joy.
[18] וַיִּקְרָא בְּסֵפֶר תּוֹרַת הָאֱלֹהִים יוֹם בְּיוֹם מִן־הַיּוֹם הָרִאשׁוֹן עַד הַיּוֹם הָאַחֲרוֹן וַיַּעֲשׂוּ־חָג שִׁבְעַת יָמִים וּבַיּוֹם הַשְּׁמִינִי עֲצֶרֶת כַּמִּשְׁפָּט ׃ פ#
[18] Cả hội chúng của những kẻ bị bắt làm phu tù được trở về bèn cất những nhà lều, và ở trong đó. Từ đời Giô-suê, con trai của Nun, cho đến ngày ấy, dân Y-sơ-ra-ên chẳng có làm gì giống như vậy. Bèn có sự rất vui mừng.
[18] Ezra read in the book of the law of God day by day, from the first day to the last. They observed the festival for seven days, and on the eighth day they held an assembly as was required.
